Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions our patients, clinical partners, and prospective customers ask most often.

How are Mexical prosthetic limbs fitted to a patient?

Fitting is performed in partnership with a hospital or clinical site. A Mexical clinician takes measurements, performs an initial alignment, and schedules a follow-up at two weeks and again at three months for smart-prosthetic firmware calibration.

What is a smart prosthetic, and how does it differ from a conventional one?

A smart prosthetic incorporates embedded sensors, a peripheral nerve interface, and adaptive firmware that learns from the patient's actual movement. Conventional prosthetics are mechanical-only. Our Series 7 leg and articulating hand are smart prosthetics.

Does Mexical work with pediatric patients?

Yes. Our pediatric prosthetic limb is designed in modular segments so that the device can grow with the child, with three-month review cycles built into our pediatric care pathway.

Which countries does Mexical currently serve?

We serve patients and clinical partners in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with active expansion work in the EU and Japan.

How does Mexical handle patient health information (PHI)?

Patient information is handled under strict access controls supervised by IT Director Sam Miller and our cybersecurity team. Cross-border data movement involving the Mexicali site follows our published privacy and compliance procedures.

Are Mexical prosthetics covered by health insurance?

Coverage varies by carrier and country. Our sales team works with public and private hospitals, as well as medical insurers, to support claims documentation. Please contact your fitting clinician for carrier-specific guidance.

How does Mexical support clinical research?

We support clinical trials through our Clinical Trial Coordinator Maria Flores, who works with hospitals, ethics committees, and research partners on consent, data handling, and patient follow-up.

Can I tour the Calexico or Mexicali facilities?

Tours are arranged on a case-by-case basis for clinical, regulatory, or government-contract partners. Please contact your Mexical representative to discuss a visit.
